Elvis Presley's 1962 Lockheed JetStar, which sat abandoned in a New Mexico desert for nearly 40 years, is being transformed into a luxury RV by influencer James Webb of Jimmy's World on YouTube. Webb, known for flipping abandoned aircraft, purchased the jet for $260,000 on January 8, which would have been the King of Rock and Roll's 88th birthday.
Webb transported the plane to his Florida workstation, where he plans to turn it into an RV for a cross-country charity road trip. Although the aircraft may be costly to restore, its original cassette player, wood cabin paneling, and 1970s charm have been preserved. Webb has already successfully fixed the lights and plans to give the rusted exterior a makeover while preserving the interior velvet seats, shag carpet, and wood paneling.
The Elvis-mobile will embark on a journey that may include stops in Las Vegas and Graceland. Webb will turn unused scraps from the plane, such as the wings and gas tanks, into Elvis mementos for profit. This rare aircraft is one of only 204 produced between 1957 and 1978 in a private collaboration between Jetstar and Lockheed.
