Daher has reached a significant milestone with the delivery of their 500th TBM 900-series turboprop aircraft. The proud moment took place when a high-end TBM 960 version was handed over to a private owner in the United States. This achievement highlights the enduring global demand for Daher's highly efficient and fast TBM turboprop-powered product line.
Nicolas Chabbert, Senior Vice President of Daher's aircraft division, emphasized the company's commitment to maintaining competitiveness, saying, "The latest TBM program achievement underscores the success of Daher's constant enhancement policy in maintaining the competitiveness of our aircraft portfolio, with an emphasis on listening to the customer and a commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and sustainability."
With over 100 TBM 960s on order, exceeding two years of production, Daher continues to witness sustained interest in the aircraft from both professional operators and private owners. This interest is further fueled by the introduction of enhanced safety features, improved efficiency, and upgraded cabin comfort.
The 500 deliveries of the TBM 900-series aircraft surpass the totals of both previous generation TBM aircraft types, with 324 TBM 700s and 338 TBM 850s manufactured. The TBM 850 marked the initial version under Daher's management of the TBM product line.
The journey of the TBM 900 series began in 2014 with the TBM 900 configuration, featuring aerodynamic improvements such as new engine cowlings, winglets, and Hartzell's five-blade scimitar propeller.
The TBM 900 series evolved with the TBM 930 in 2016, which featured Garmin's touchscreen-controlled G3000 integrated flight deck and introduced the TBM's e-copilot functionality. The family expanded in 2018 with the TBM 910, equipped with Garmin's G1000 NXi avionics. The TBM 930 was succeeded by the TBM 940 in 2019, which featured autothrottle and, in 2020, the HomeSafe emergency autoland system.
Daher's latest addition to the high-end TBM series is the TBM 960, unveiled in 2022. It integrates the new PT6E-66XT turboprop engine from Pratt & Whitney Canada, along with Hartzell Propeller's five-blade composite propeller with the Raptor lightweight hub. The aircraft is equipped with the dual-channel digital Engine and Propeller Electronic Control System (EPECS) for optimal powerplant performance, reducing pilot workload and enhancing precision in settings. The fuel economy at Daher's recommended cruise setting is notably improved, making it a more sustainable choice for travelers.
Beyond performance enhancements, the TBM 960 offers a Prestige cabin with an all-new environmental control system. The cabin features LED strip lighting, electronically-dimmable windows, and enhanced seats for passenger comfort. USB-A and USB-C power plugs, individual cupholders, and headset hangers further enhance the cabin's style and convenience.
